CONTEST

You Could Win!

2022 Eyewitness to History Contest

Uncover a fascinating story about the past, have your writing appear in JS, and score $250 for yourself and your teacher!

Do you know someone who survived a natural disaster, took part in a famous civil rights march, or faced war in their homeland? Chances are, people in your community have captivating true stories to tell—and we want you to help tell them. Take part in our annual contest and you could win big!

To enter, interview someone who experienced any historic event in person. Then send us the interview (700 to 900 words) in Q&A form.

Entries must include:

  • an introduction saying who you interviewed and a brief description of the event that person experienced
  • a conclusion explaining what you learned from this project

If you win, we’ll publish your story—and give you $250! (Your teacher will also win $250.) Two runners-up will each get $50. For interview tips, the entry form, and official rules, click here.

Entries must be postmarked by January 24, 2022.
