Teens aren’t the only ones who need their space—wild animals do too. That’s why tourism officials in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, recently created a new Instagram filter that tells visitors when they're too close to wildlife.
Called Selfie Control, the free filter is set up for Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks. It features five large animals—bison, elk, moose, grizzly bears, and black bears. When a park visitor is ready to snap an animal photo, they click on the filter and choose the icon of that animal. If their screen shows the real animal as bigger than the icon, the person is too close. The recommended distance is 25 yards from moose, elk, and bison and 100 yards from the bears.
Tourism officials say the filter is needed because there have been more visitors to the parks in recent years—and more dangerous encounters between humans and wildlife as a result.
