Earhart Mystery Solved?

For decades, people have wondered what happened to Amelia Earhart. The famous pilot disappeared in 1937 while trying to become the first woman to fly around the globe. Now the world may be closer to getting an answer. A group of explorers from South Carolina recently announced that they may have found Earhart’s plane. 

The group, Deep Sea Vision, used sonar and an unmanned underwater vehicle to scan an area of the Pacific Ocean floor last fall. They captured images of an object shaped like Earhart’s plane less than 100 miles from Howland Island. The tiny island is where Earhart and her navigator, Fred Noonan, were expected to refuel before they vanished.  

In the decades since, people have continued to search for any trace of Earhart, Noonan, or the plane. Most historians believe the aircraft ran out of fuel and crashed into the ocean. 

Earhart’s family has called the discovery promising. Still, some experts are skeptical. Take a look at the photo. What do you think?
