Orbital Assembly

A planned bedroom on the Voyager space station

Want a vacation that’s out of this world? If you’re not in a rush, a visit to the Pioneer or the Voyager space station might be just the ticket.

A U.S.-based company is building the floating destinations, which could become the first space hotels. Scheduled to open by 2025, Pioneer will include basic rooms—with an awesome view!—for 28 guests. Voyager, set to open in 2027, will offer fancier rooms for 280 guests, plus a restaurant, movie theater, library, and more. (Both stations will also have research areas for scientists.)

Pioneer and Voyager will orbit Earth every 90 minutes. At the same time, both will rapidly spin like wheels. That motion will create artificial gravity to keep visitors’ feet on the floor. But in Voyager’s low-gravity gym, guests will still be able to leap to new heights while shooting hoops.

If this all sounds good, start saving your money: The estimated price tag for a three-day stay is $5 million!
