Do you know someone who campaigned for civil rights, survived the 9/11 attacks, or made or witnessed history in another way? If so, share his or her story for a chance to win $500 in our annual Eyewitness to History contest.

To enter, interview someone who experienced a historic event in person. Then send us the 500- to 800-word interview in Q&A form, including an introduction saying who you interviewed and why, and a paragraph explaining what you learned from that person. Entries must be postmarked by January 5, 2018. The grand-prize winner will receive $500 and have his or her entry published in JS. Two runners-up will win $250 each. For last year’s winning entries, interview tips, and the official rules and entry form, go to the "Teaching Resources" section below.
