CONTEST

Where’s Mapman?

Every year, Junior Scholastic’s cartographer travels to a new spot. Figure out the latest mystery location and draw a map of it for our contest.

Helen McMahon

Jim McMahon, aka Mapman

This past summer, Jim McMahon, aka Mapman®, traveled to a province in eastern Canada that is home to more than 500,000 lakes.

Can you figure out where he went? The location is known for maple trees, as well as poutine—french fries and cheese curds topped with brown gravy. It is also the only province in Canada where French is the sole official language. Its capital city began as a French colonial settlement in 1608. Learn more about this province’s history, life, and people through our Can You Find Mapman®? contest. Answer the questions below, figure out the mystery location, and draw a map of it.

The grand-prize entry will earn $250. (That student’s teacher will win $250 too.) Twenty-five runner-up entries will each earn a Mapman T-shirt. Entries must be postmarked by Feb. 10, 2025.
