Is your family sick with the flu? Don’t fret. If you live in College Station, Texas, or Lockeford, California, flying robots could be coming to the rescue! Amazon is testing a program in those areas that uses drones to deliver prescription medicines.

The initiative is part of a growing trend. More companies are turning to drone deliveries to meet customer demands for speed and convenience.

Here’s how Amazon’s program works: After a customer places an order, a worker puts the medicine, safe in a padded package, into the drone. Then the robot zips off. When it nears your home, it can detect if people or pets are in the way. If the coast is clear, it drops the delivery.

If this pilot program goes well, Amazon plans to expand the service to other places in the U.S. and Europe. Now that’s just what the doctor ordered!
