CONTEST

You Could Win!

2023 Eyewitness to History Contest

Uncover a fascinating true story, have your writing published in Junior Scholastic, and score $250 for yourself and your teacher!

Do you know someone who experienced a war, took part in a civil rights march, or survived a major natural disaster? Chances are, people in your community have captivating stories about the past—and we want you to help tell those stories. Take part in our annual contest and you could win big!

To enter, interview someone who experienced any historic event in person. Then send us the interview (700 to 900 words) in Q&A form.

Entries must include:

• an introduction saying who you interviewed and a brief description of the event that person experienced

• a conclusion explaining what you learned from this project

If you win, we’ll publish your story—and award you $250! (Your teacher will also win $250.) Two runners-up will each get $50. Click here to download interview tips, the entry form, and official rules.

Entries must be postmarked by January 10, 2023.
