Who needs roads? Flying cars are closer than ever to becoming a reality! A Japanese company recently completed a test flight of a piloted flying car. The small electric vehicle takes off and lands vertically, as a helicopter does. The company hopes to start selling the craft—for hundreds of thousands of dollars each—in 2023. The model is one of dozens of flying cars in development globally. Many are intended to be used as flying taxis in crowded cities with heavy traffic. Still, challenges lie ahead, experts say, including air traffic planning and making such vehicles affordable.
